Arthur M. Palmer Arthur Martin Palmer was born on July
1, 1925 in Elaine, Arkansas and joined our Lord on March 18, 2007
at Hamilton Hospital in Webster City, Iowa, after a valiant battle
with Pulmonary Fibrosis. Art was the fourth of seven children born
to DeMar and Stella Palmer.
During his childhood, Art attended schools in Aurora, IL; San Francisco, CA; and Kensett Arkansas where he graduated high school from in May 1943. Following graduation he enlisted in the Navy for the start of a lifetime career in the Military ending with his retirement in 1976 as the top ranked Master Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. Arthur Martin and Laurel Madelon Palmer were married on March 13, 1955 in San Francisco, CA. They moved to Southern California where they raised four children and lived for the next 37 years before moving to Webster City, Iowa, in 1992. He was active in many organization’s including, but not limited to: Trinity Lutheran Church; the Webster City Planning and Zoning Commission; Boone River Area Art Guild; League of Women Voters; VFW and Marine Corps League in Fort Dodge; volunteer in the Webster City Community Schools; and Boy Scouts of America, where he held the highest adult honor of Silver Beaver. Arthur is survived by his wife of 52 years, Laurel Palmer of Webster City. His Brother, Martin Palmer and Sister, MaryLee Canamore, both of Kensett, Arkansas. Four children: Daughter, Ann Palmer; Son and Daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Denet Palmer; Daughter, Betty Riley; and Daughter and Son-in-law, Barbara and Lynn Flowerday; thirteen Grandchildren and eleven Great-Grandchildren. He will be missed dearly by all. Services will be held Saturday, March 24, 2007 at 2:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City, Iowa. |
