Alice R. Swanson, 102, of Fort Dodge, died Friday, November 18, 2011 at her residence.

Alice was born September 13, 1909 the daughter of William and Sarah (Daane) Nowlin in Yakima, Washington.  She was later united in marriage to Floyd Swanson. To this union five sons were born.  Over the years she perfected her talent of cooking and baking much to the content of her family and friends.

Those thankful for having shared in Alice,s life include her children, Floyd Richard (Donna) Swanson, Jr. of Cedar Falls, IA, Jackie (Karen) Swanson of Fort Dodge, IA, William (Carol) Swanson of Iowa City, IA, Ernest Swanson of Clare, IA, daughter in law, Marilyn Swanson of North Platte, NE, one brother, one sister, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-six great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Swanson was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Floyd, a son Robert, one granddaughter, two grandsons, two sisters and two brothers.

Memorials may be left to Trinity Hospice, Fort Dodge, IA.
