Betty J. Bestick, 90, of Fort Dodge passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge. A memorial service will be held at 11 am Friday, August 3, 2012 at Corpus Christi Church. Father James McCormick, her nephew, will officiate. Bruce-Graham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

In lieu of flowers the family request donations to ones favorite charity.

 

Betty is survived by her children, Paula Johnson of Otho, IA; Richard (Sandy) Bestick of Green Bay, WI; Kevin (Lori) Bestick of Cedar Rapids, IA; 5 grandchildren, Amy (Jack) Clark, Michael, Claire, Paul, and Madeline Bestick; 11 step grandchildren and one great grandchild, Cameron.

She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, her husband of 60 years, Paul, in 2004 and son-in-law Bruce Johnson in 2010.

 

Betty Jean Scace was born on September 21, 1921 in Corwith, IA, the daughter of Bethany and Fay Scace. After high school she attended American Institute of Business in Des Moines. She married Paul F. Bestick on June 15, 1943 at Saint Ambrose Cathedral, Des Moines, IA.

 

Betty owned and operated Bestick Realty in Fort Dodge until her retirement in 1981 and continued to stay active in real estate for many years.

 

Betty enjoyed her later years between her cottage at Lake Okoboji and second home in Weslaco, Texas. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed learning and teaching Spanish, painting, writing her book “Get Real Estate Smart”, boating and swimming.

 

Betty Jean Bestick will be dearly missed but not forgotten.

A special thank you to her at-home caregivers which allowed her to be “home” and Villa Care Center staff.
