Bryan Todd Schnathorst, 67, of Miller, SD, died Saturday, October 4, 2025, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center. Private family services will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with the Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.
Bryan was born August 29, 1958, the son of Alvin C. and Karen K. (Big Eagle) Schnathorst. He graduated from high school in Iowa and served in the U.S. Army. Over the years, he was married to Marge Stuwe, Janet Engelmann, and Jennifer Moriarty. For several years, he ran his own business, Blue-Sky Set-Up, putting together farm equipment for various dealerships.
In his younger years, Bryan enjoyed running and riding his motorcycle. He also loved hunting, foraging for morel mushrooms, and collecting agate rocks. His yearly elk hunting trips with his father, family, and friends were among his most cherished memories. Bryan was a true storyteller — animated, free-spirited, and full of color, much like those agate rocks he collected, captivating his audiences with his tales. This gift will be especially missed by all who were entertained by his stories.
Bryan is survived by eight children: Jessica Lundgren and husband Cass of Dubuque, IA; Desiree Schnathorst of Crystal, MN; Billie Faulkner of Sturgeon Bay, WI; Cole Rodriguez of Aberdeen, SD; Kyle Schnathorst of Sioux Falls, SD; Haley Schnathorst of Brookings, SD; Dylan Moriarty of Miller, SD; and Griffen Schnathorst of St. Lawrence, SD; eight grandchildren: Kiernan, Bella, Quinn, Liza, Hayden, Gavin, Harlow, and Roman; and his siblings: Sheldon Schnathorst, Karla Durnil, Kella Phillips-Redwing, Schaun Schnathorst, Alvin Jr. “Skip” Schnathorst, Mindy Zaborowski, Schalane Bucklin, Sara Lampson, Ronnie Anderson, Bob Carlson, and Frank Carlson. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, as well as his sweet dog, Millie, who now resides with his daughter, Billie.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Karen, and his stepmother, Norma.
