Carol Dorothea Reeves 101 of Boone, formerly of Fort Dodge died Sunday, June 2 in Boone. Services are Wednesday, 10:00 a.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Burial, North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation, Tuesday, 6-8 and Wednesday one hour prior to services at Historic Bruce Funeral Home.

She was born January 8, 1912 in Otho, Iowa to Joseph E. and Jessie L. (Alvord) Lindstrom. She graduated from Burnside High School in 1930 and Nurses Training at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in 1933. Carol started working as a private duty nurse in 1934. In 1942 she started the Fort Dodge Community Nursing Service. Carol was united in marriage to George T. Reeves on August 21, 1943 at First United Methodist Church in Fort Dodge. Carol worked at the Lutheran Hospital for several years after her sons birth. After her husbands death in 1962, Carol was employed as the Fort Dodge Community School Nurse for many years, and helped start the Fort Dodge Head Start Program. Carol was awarded the Kiwanis Golden Rule Award in 1967, the AAUW Woman of the Year in 1971 and the A Valiant Woman of Church Women United in 1988. She was a member of Riverside United Methodist Church and Boone United Methodist Church having received her 50 year membership pin in 2002. She retired from Planned Parenthood at the age of 70. Carol moved to Boone, Iowa in 1988 and was the church membership secretary at First United Methodist Church in Boone. She moved to the Eastern Star Home in Boone in 1989.

She is survived by her children; Alan (Cathy) Reeves of Dodge City, Kansas, and Annette (Philippe) Meier of Boone, grandchildren; Melissa (Robert) Steptoe, Erin (Clint) Newton, Christopher (Marianne) Reeves, Adrianne (Charles) Babbitt and Albert Meier, great grandchildren; Matthew Newton, Kaylynne Newton, Daniel Steptoe, Kameran Reeves, Ruthanne Steptoe.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers; Cedric and Julien, and sister, Mabel Thaanum Fort Dodge Area Funeral and Cremation Service, Bruce Funeral Home assisted family with the arrangements. Online condolences at brucesfuneralhome.com
