Funeral services for Charlene “Okie” Christensen will be held on Friday, June 17th at 10 am at St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 16th from 4pm until 7pm at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa. Visitation will resume on Friday from 9am until the time of the service at St. Olaf Lutheran Church. Burial will be held at Memorial Park, Fort Dodge, Iowa, following the services on Friday. Tim Kulow director at Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge was entrusted with the arrangements. Online condolences may be directed to www.brucesfuneralhome.com.

 

Charlene Carol Trueblood, the daughter of Ralph and Lucille (Larson) Trueblood, was born on April 3, 1938 in Fort Dodge, IA. She attended school at Fort Dodge Community Schools. On September 6, 1958 she was united in marriage to Marion “Chris” Christensen. The couple made their home in Fort Dodge. Charlene was a very active member of St Olaf Lutheran Church. She loved kids and cared for many as a daycare provider in her earlier years. Okie was a grandma to every one. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Charlene enjoyed collecting birdhouses and angels. Charlene passed away at her home on June 12, 2016 surrounded by her family at the age of 78 years, two months, and fourteen days.

 

Charlene is survived by her four children: Cathy Christensen (Donald) of Fort Dodge, David Christensen of Fort Dodge, Eric Christensen Reneau (Rob) of Peoria, IL, and Stacey Christensen (Dave) of Fort Dodge; her eight grandchildren: Brandie Christensen (Ryan) of Fort Dodge, Chanc Christensen (Maraka) of Florida, Lacie Casey (David) of Fort Dodge, Dillion Christensen of Fort Dodge, Karissa Urelius (Anthony) of Fort Dodge, Dalton Urelius of Fort Dodge, Brady and Adler of Peoria, IL. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Connor Mallinger, Payton Cruz, Katielynn Casey, Karter Cruz, and two great-grandsons to be born in September. Charlene is also survived by her special niece Debra Nickless of Fort Dodge, great- niece Amanda Nickless of Fort Dodge, and her sister Nancy Trueblood of Bloomington, IL.

 

Charlene is preceded in death by her husband Marion “Chris” Christensen, her parents Ralph and Lucille Trueblood, and her sister Donna McLoud.
