Charlene H. Everson

Charlene “Charlie” H. Everson, 81, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Tuesday, March 31, 2026. Memorial services will be held at 5:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South – Fort Dodge. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

Charlene was born May 8, 1944, in Fort Dodge, IA, the daughter of Hannah (Aljets) and William Heide. She attended country school in Pomeroy, IA. Over the years, she worked as a CNA, cook, bartender and florist with positions at the Pomeroy Care Center and Becker Florist. Charlie enjoyed taking care of her dog “Lily”. She also enjoyed gardening, canning, fishing, needlepoint and crocheting (so many dolls!). Charlie loved baking – it was her ‘love language’.

Charlene is survived by 7 children: Billy Joe Mills of Potosi, MO, Tammy (Rick) Church of Fort Dodge, Susan (Jeff) O’Tool of Odebolt, IA, Connie Rodriguez (Enrque) of Fort Dodge, Jeff (Shari) Mills of Pocahontas, IA, Christina (Gregory) Slagle of Shawnee, KS, and Andrew (Misty) Mace of Rolfe, IA; 22 grandchildren: B.J., Danny, Lisa, Robert, Justin, Kelsey, Toni, Amanda, Jacob, Joshua, Samantha, Jesse, Jessica, Michael, Noah, Sarah, David, Bradley, Brodey, Langley, Kinley and Chase; and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 siblings: Paul Heide, Geri Foster and Dean Heide; nephew: Tommy Foster; and niece: Anita Siemers.
