Charles H. Elms, 74, of Fort Dodge, died Tuesday, June 14, 2005 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2005 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center with a rosary at 6:30 p.m. followed by a vigil at 7. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2005 at St. Monica Catholic Church, Cartersville, IL. Interment will follow in the Dundee Township Cemetery.

Charles was born September 13, 1930, the son of Albert and Victoria Ruth Elms in Kansas City, MO. Charles served his country honorably in the United States Army during WWII and later served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Charles loved the working in his garden growing his prize tomatoes and gourds in which he made bird houses of. He enjoyed doing woodworking projects and driving his 1902 Oldsmobile. Charles was a member of the American Legion Post 435 of Richfield, MN, a life member of the VFW Post 1856, and a past member of the Dundee Township Rangers. Charles was a member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church.

Those thankful for having shared in Charles’ life include his wife; Lucille, three children; Charles (Mary) Elms Jr., Tenna (Roger) Baedke, Deborah (John Gomez) Gottel, step children; John (Debbie) Elko, Joanne Beda, Wayne H. Shellenberger, Gary L. Shellenberger, one sister; Betty Johnson, one brother; William (Virginia) Elms, 9 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren.

Mr. Elms was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Ernestine.
