Christopher R. Crawford

Christopher “Chris” Crawford, 66, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Sunday, July 19, 2026, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

Christopher was born August 16, 1959, in Illinois, the son of Robert and Shirley (Traylor) Crawford. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in 1977, and continued his education at Iowa State. He worked for Great Western Dining Services for many years until his retirement in 2024. Chris enjoyed going to the lake and watching the sunrise & sunset. That was his time of reflection, worship and peace. He was a walking ESPN Almanac who also enjoyed grilling, cooking, music, Jeopardy, trivial pursuit, decorating for Christmas, cheering on the Chicago Cubs, and people watching at the Iowa State Fair. Above all, he loved his wife unconditionally, spending time with his family and being “Bop” to his grandchildren.

Chris is survived by his companion of 41 years: Jackie Nelson of Fort Dodge; 3 children: Aaron Crawford of Fort Dodge, Jessica Nelson (Joshua Jones) of Fort Dodge and Cassandra Nelson (Ryan Bretall) of Broomfield, CO; 3 grandchildren: Kallie Kloss (Austin Sherman) of Badger, IA, Dakota Luckenbill of Fort Dodge and Joey Luckenbill of Fort Dodge; and 3 great grandchildren: Kinley, Kora and Kambree. He is also survived by friend's: Deb (Greg) Day, Shari (John) Johnson and Kelly Krantz and their children.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and Jackie's parents: Patricia and Gene Krantz and Don Porter.
