Dakota A. Burmeister, 27, of Humboldt, IA, died Saturday, May 23, 2026. A celebration of life gathering will be held from 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at the Humboldt County Fairgrounds. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.
Dakota was born June 7, 1998, in Le Mars, IA, the son of Paul and Kimberly A. (Hanlon) Burmeister. He graduated from Humboldt High School in 2016. Dakota worked for Blacktop Service Company in Humboldt. He loved working there and was blessed with great bosses (Bob and Alissa Wagner) and many wonderful co-workers. Throughout his life, Dakota embraced a diverse array of interests that reflected his dynamic personality. He found joy and excitement in shooting guns and riding his motorcycle, activities that brought him both thrill and a sense of freedom. Dakota also cherished moments spent with his beloved girlfriend, Aubrie, whose companionship was a source of happiness and comfort to him. A dedicated and hardworking individual, Dakota balanced his professional life with numerous personal passions. He had an adventurous palate and a love for food, especially Mexican cuisine and seafood, both of which he enjoyed cooking himself. In his leisure time, Dakota enjoyed playing Xbox with his friends. As a music lover, Dakota eagerly took trips to attend various concerts and festivals, embracing the energy and community found in these gatherings.
Dakota is survived by his mother: Kim Burmeister of Livermore; 2 siblings: Tyler Hanlon of Lu Verne, IA and Bethany (Oscar) Hanlon of Livermore; his girlfriend: Aubrie Brady of Livermore; his special cousin and closest friend: Logan Burmeister and wife Lauren of Carroll, IA; 3 nieces and nephews: Josie, Jace and Jaxson; aunts and uncles: Linn Snyder and husband Jerry of Le Mars, Mark Burmeister of Humboldt, Gerald Burmeister and wife Jessica of Eagle Grove, IA, Mary Herrick and husband J.R. of Custer, SD, Kevin Hanlon and wife Cindy of Conway, SC, Kerry Hanlon and wife Diane of Payton, IA, Kelton Hanlon and wife Melissa of Houston, TX, Kendall Hanlon and wife Lisa of Omro, WI, and Kenton Hanlon and wife Sue of Meridian, IN. He is also survived by several extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his father: Paul Burmeister; and 2 uncles: Kraig Hanlon and Al Burmeister.
