Dale R. Beahler, 84, of Fort Dodge, died Monday, September 19, 2011 at the Grandview Care Center, Dayton, Iowa.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Walter Porsch VFW Post 1856. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dale was born February 1, 1927 the son of Molly Beahler in St. Joseph, Missouri. Dales grandparents raised him as a young boy and spoke Swiss in the home. As a result Dale never spoke English until he was sent to school. On May 20, 1965 he was united in marriage to Janice Stringer.

 

On September 7, 1950 Dale entered the United States Army serving his country until his honorable discharge on September 6, 1952.

Dale was very proud of his family and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with each of them. He loved being a mentor to children and did so by volunteering as a foster grandparent for many years. His passions were cooking, old cars, watching old westerns and any war movies that were on TV. Over the years Dale had several employers including; Brooks Laundry, the Dairy Mart, Treloars, Rosedale Creamery and the Salvation Army where he cooked for several years.

Those thankful for having shared in Dales life include his children, Darren (Lynn) Beahler, Blake (Sara) Beahler, Leatha Crotts, Bradley (Jennifer) Beahler, seven grandchildren, Adrienne Crotts, Kathy Beahler, Jim Beahler, Shannon Beahler, Jack Beahler, Emma Beahler and Grant Beahler.

Mr. Beahler was preceded in death by his Mother and several Uncles.
