Danny R. Green

Danny Ray Green, 71, of Lake City, IA, died Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at his home surrounded by family. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the home of Justin and Athena Green, 429 Richmond Street – Rockwell City, IA 50579. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

Danny was born July 19, 1954, in Lake City, the son of Donald D. and Maxine (Moore) Green. He grew up in Rockwell City. On November 7, 1986, he was united in marriage to Tammy R. Waters. In 1971, he served in the U.S. Marine Corp. Danny was the father of Mike, Michelle, Jereme, Jessica, Joshua, Jeremiah, Justin, Jordan and Joseph. Danny earned 3 degrees in welding, heavy equipment operator and truck driving. He worked various construction/welding jobs over the years before becoming a truck driver and eventually retiring. Danny was a big story teller who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great granddaughter, playing cards (especially when he was winning), hunting, fishing, family get-togethers and fish fry’s in the front yard. He also enjoyed all things outdoors and survival camping trips with some of his children.

Danny is survived by his wife of 39 years: Tammy Green of Lake City; sister: Deborah (Jerry) Long of Eldora, IA; children & grandchildren: Michelle Chaney and her children: Emmersyn and Charleigh of Glidden, IA; Mike (Amber) Green and their child: Devlin of Missouri; Jereme (Jordan) Waters and their children: Kira, Kyler, Jacey and Jager of Lake City; Jessica (Alex) Waters and their children: Eli of Lubbock, TX, Ethan of Ankeny, IA, Lilyanne, Eldridge, Lincoln, and Liberty of Lake City; Joshua (Heather) Green and their children: Dawson, Payton, Benson, Jaxon and Gavin of Carroll, IA; Jeremiah (Stas) Green and their children: Isiah, Colten, Rylan, Leeland and Harper of Lake City; Justin (Athena) Green and their children: Summer, Mikey and Corey of Rockwell City; Jordan (Christy) Green and their children: Emma, Addison and Jordyn of Lake City; Joseph Green and his daughter: Bailey of Lake City; and great grandchild: Stella.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Maxine and Donald Green; mother & father-in-law: Jessie and Mary Waters; granddaughter: Riley Sorenson; and nephew: Jared Risius.
