David A. Martrano

David A. Martrano, 68, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Unity Point – Trinity Regional Medical Center. Private family services will be held at a later date. Inurnment will take place at Oakwood Cemetery in Penfield, NY. Memorials may be directed to the family.

David was born September 19, 1952, in Rochester, NY, the son of James and Rose (Casada) Martrano. He attended school in Rochester. On November 24, 1969, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War until his honorable discharge on April 8, 1972. He was later united in marriage to Nancy Costello. Nancy died in 1995. In 2008, he met Shirley Groff at the American Legion in Florida, and 6 months later he moved to Fort Dodge. David was a mailman for the U.S. Postal Service for many years until his retirement in 2014. David enjoyed baseball, golfing and trips to the casino. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW.

David is survived by his son: David Martrano of Rochester, NY; his significant other of 13 years: Shirley Groff of Fort Dodge; and his best friend: Dan Bush of Michigan and Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Nancy.
