David Max Quillen 83,Fort Dodge died Friday May 10, 2013, at Fort Dodge Health and Rehab Center. Services are Tuesday 10:00 am at Epworth United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Monday 6-8 at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home. Visitation continues Tuesday one hour prior to services. Interment North Lawn Cemetery.

David Max Quillen was born May 13, 1929 in Otho, Iowa to David and Hazel (Strange) Quillen. His family lived in several communities while he was growing up. He attended country school. David served in the United States Army from June 1955 through June of 1957. He was united in marriage to Edna Erickson on April 19, 1958 in Fairmont. The family settled in Fort Dodge where David worked at Johnson Clay Works. He drove truck for Jake Jones and worked for a local farmer for a few years. David worked for U.S Gypsum for over 15 years and then retired 1993. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and camping.

He also enjoyed car racing where he was pit man for his son Dennis for many years. David was a Certified Lay Speaker for the United Methodist Church. He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church and the Kiwanis Club. He especially enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by wife Edna, children; Dennis (Rose) Quillen, Ruby (William) Hinds, David G. Quillen, Linda K. Woods, Patricia Brown, step children; Paula Ober, Russell Steburg, Cheri Thompson, brother Wayne Quillen, sisters; Betty, Ruth, Alice, and Judy, 34 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

David was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Erma, Beverly, Shirley, Ronnie, John and Janice, and step daughter Pamela.
