Dean Hanus

Dean J. Hanus, 62, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Saturday, December 9, 2023, in Webster City, IA.  Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South.   Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.  Inurnment will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove, IA at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.

Dean was born December 4, 1961, in Clarion, IA, the son of Jule Dean and Sharon Wicks.  He earned his GED.   On June 3, 2016, he was united in marriage to Georgia M. (Valentine) in Fort Dodge.  Dean worked as a construction worker and assisted in building the grain elevator in Highview, Iowa. He was also a handyman who worked various jobs over the years.  Dean enjoyed watching football and cheering on the Dallas Cowboys!  He also enjoyed teasing the grandchildren, taking them on strolls through the park and car rides to look at nature. They would often visit his friend Mike’s farm to look at his animals.  Socializing with friends at the bar was another favorite pastime.

Dean is survived by his wife:  Georgia Hanus of Fort Dodge; his mother:  Sharon Flaws of Webster City; 8 step-children:  Abby Valentine of Fort Dodge, Yoshi Valentine of Duncombe, IA, Eliezer Valentine of Fort Dodge, Michelle Valentine of Fort Dodge, Georgia Lee Harper and husband Blake of Somers, IA, Joel Valentine of Fort Dodge, Etya Wheeling and husband Dustin of Harcourt, IA, and Robert Valentine of Clear Lake, IA; numerous grandchildren; and 1 brother:  Daryl Hanus of St. Louis, MO.  He is also survived by his nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father:  Jule Hanus; a brother:  David Hanus; and a sister: Deann Fialkowski.
