Donald A. Haviland, Jr., 71, of Fort Dodge died Friday, April 27, 2007 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 30, 2007 at the Grace Lutheran Church with the Rev. Matthew Martens officiating.  Inurnment will follow in the Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery with military honors conducted by the Walter Porsch V.F.W. Post 1856.  Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Donald was born October 8, 1935 the son of Donald A. and Marion (Riles) Haviland, Sr. in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Donald was united in marriage to Patsy Habhab and later married Nancy Schmidt.

Donald served his country in the United States Navy for August 8th of 1952 until his honorable discharge on August 8th of 1956.

Donald loved the outdoors; whether fishing, camping, walking his dogs, tending to the yard or just enjoying life.  He was a quiet man with a dry sense of humor.  Donald was also an avid reader.  He enjoyed riding his Honda Gold Wing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Those thankful for having shared in Donalds life include his wife; Nancy, children; Deborah (Robert) Abbott, Kelly (Mark A.) Bradley, David (Stephanie) Haviland, Rod (Kristin) Haviland, Todd (Miossi) Haviland, four step children; Vicki (Joe) Elmore, Laura (Greg) Burke, Daniel Junkman, Jeffrey (Michelle) Junkman, one brother; Steven (Jane) Haviland, two Aunts; Mildred Habhab, Lois Riles, one uncle; Russell Riles, 16 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Haviland was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Baby Boy Bradley and a grandson Travis Donald Prak.
