Donna Mae Swanson

Funeral Services for Donna Mae Swanson 92 of Fort Dodge, Iowa will be Monday, January 5, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge with the Rev John Sersland officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation will be Monday 11:00 a.m. until time of services.  Donna died Friday, January 2, 2015 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge.

Donna Mae Swanson was born March 11, 1922 in Webster City, Iowa to Alfred and Myrtle (Huxtable) Jacobson.  She graduated from Duncombe High School in 1940.  She was united in marriage to Elmer O Swanson on June 29, 1941.  To this union three children were born, Jerry, Suzy and Nancy.   Donna worked at the Sears store for many years. She loved attending her flower gardens and starting her own plants.  She and Elmer made two annual trips to Leech Lake year after year and she enjoyed weekly dances.  Donna was a member of the Fort Dodge Federated Garden Club, CCI, and the Humboldt Garden Club.  She was a great cook and won many awards for her produce at area fairs. Donna will be greatly missed by her family especially her grandchildren.

She is survived her husband, Elmer, by her two daughters; Suzy (Joe) Cunningham of Fort Dodge and Nancy (Larry) Taylor of Savage, MN, 8 grandchildren; Christine Jondle, Lisa Caryl, Stephanie Chase, Roslynn Hansen, Kevin Swanson, Christopher Hansen, Marlon Hansen, and Teresa Swanson, 16 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

Donna is preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Myrtle Jacobson, her son Jerry Swanson, sister Darlene Knierim and aunt and uncle Esther & Earl Presler.
