Dorthy E. Crouse, 93, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, July 20, 2005 at the Marion Home.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2005 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center.  Interment will follow in the Fort Dodge Memorial Park Cemetery.  Visitation  will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday, July 22nd at the funeral home.

Dorthy was born December 27, 1911 in rural Elkhorn Township, the daughter of John Frank and Ida Alice (Wilcox) Merrill.  Following graduation from high school, Dorthy attended the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, IA.  She returned to the rural area and taught at the following schools: Moorland, Coalville, and Callender. 

Dorthy was united in marriage to Lester B. Crouse on September 8, 1932 in Duncombe, IA.  She later went back to college and graduated from Drake University.

Dorthy had a great talent for painting and doing embroidery work.  She loved to read, travel, and spend winters in Donna, TX.  She was a member of the Otho United Methodist Church, Otho United Methodist Women, Webster County Rural Teachers, Retired Teachers of Webster County, and the Happy Holiday Travel Trailer Club.

Those thankful for having shared in Dorthys life include her children; Virginia (Gene) McBride of Coalville, Gene (Carol) Crouse of Des Moines, four grandchildren; Mickey and Larry McBride, Amy Willard, and Steven Crouse, five great granddaughters; Merissa, Haley, Katie, Amie, and Alicia, and three great-great grandchildren; Austin, Makenzie, and Kierstan.

Mrs. Crouse was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lester “Bennie”, nine brothers and sisters, and one grandson; Alan Crouse.
