Edna Marie Humphreys, 91, of Fort Dodge, passed away at Villa Care Center August 20, 2012. Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 Friday August 24 at Bruce-Graham Funeral Home. On Saturday August 25 at 9:30, Grave Site service will be at Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Dodge. The memorial service will be held at 10:30 officiated by Pastor Gary L. Snook at The Church of the Nazarene, 1250 North 24th Street. Lunch will be served after the service.

Edna, daughter of John Witt and Mabel (Bendixen) Witt, was born July 16, 1921 in Rolfe, Iowa. She was baptized in the Rolfe Presbyterian Church. Edna attended Rolfe Community School and then went on to Bernel Beauty School in Fort Dodge. On July 6, 1938 she married Lester D. Simpson. They had a daughter, Janet Fay Simpson. Edna was a housewife, helped with her husbands work, ran a restaurant, “Ednas Place, was “one of the first group of women to do a mans job” making wallboard at USG. They lived on several farms in the 50s, on RR #3 in Ft. Dodge. Edna worked at the Globe Union 1951-1970. On January 12, 1970 she married Ralph D. Humphreys.

Edna is survived by her brother, Roger Witt (Alice),Rolfe, daughter, Janet Knutson Henning, Webster City, step son, Jack Humphreys (Doris), Riverside, OH, step daughter Joyce Busch (Richard),Fort Dodge. Grandchildren, Kraig Knutson (Susan), Mesa Az, Karen Beck (Mike), Urbandale, IA, Keith Knutson (Lauren), Gilbert, AZ, Karla Anderson (Brian) Chandler, AZ. several step grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, numerous step great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and many step great great grandchildren.

Edna was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mabel Witt, her husbands, Lester Simpson and Ralph Humphreys, Sisters, Blanche Gardewine, Margeurite Diederich, and Irene Tool.
