Ethel Edythe Adkins died Tuesday, April 13, 2004 on her 101st birthday at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.

Memorial services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday April 17, 2004 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Officiating will be the Dr. Larry Davidson. Inurnment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery.

Ethel was born April 13, 1903 the daughter of Oscar G. and Rosella (Grinnell) Savery in rural Woodbine, IA. The family moved to Fort Dodge where Ethel graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High School in the Class of 1921.

On November 22, 1922 Ethel was united in marriage to Richard H. Adkins in Fort Dodge.

Ethel was known for her wonderful baking skills especially the delicious pies. She used her talents while she was employed as the baker for Mercy Hospital for many years. Ethel was a member of First Christian Church, and the First Christian Church Women’s Fellowship.

Those thankful for having shared in Ethel’s life include four grandchildren, Dr. Larry (Colleen) Davidson of Covington, VA, Bruce (Julie) Davidson of St. Louis, MO, Cathy Davidson of Port Orchard, WA, and Nancy (Darin) Haustveit of Port Orchard, WA, 17 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren.

Mrs. Adkins was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, daughter, Dolores Davidson, son in law, Homer L. Davidson, sister, Elsie Flower, and one great grandson, Justin Oleson.
