Evelyn M. Sittig

Evelyn M. Sittig, 86, of Fort Dodge, died Monday, April 28, 2008 at the Trinity Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 3, 2008 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Knierim with the Rev. Chadric Dietrich officiating.  Interment will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Rockwell City.  Visitation will be held from 4 until 7 p.m. Friday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home, Fort Dodge. Evelyn was born December 30, 1921 the daughter of Edward and Bessie (Ruzicka) Balak in Howells, NE.  She later graduated from Howells High School.  On November 18, 1941 Evelyn was united in marriage to Julius Sittig at the First Lutheran Church, Omaha, NE.  Evelyn later began working at the Webster County Home in the kitchen. Evelyn was very active in numerous church activities including working in the kitchen at Good Shepherd Lutheran church following her retirement from the Webster County Home.  She was an extremely hard working lady who loved to cook and bake especially pies, dumplings and kuliches.  Evelyn enjoyed working in the garden and spending time with her family.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Knierim. Those thankful for having shared in Evelyns life include her children; Eugene (Gloria) Sittig of Omaha, NE, James Sittig of Humboldt, IA, Patricia (Mark N.) Essing of Manson, IA, John (Terri) Sittig of Owatonna, MN, one brother; Alvin (Audrea) Balak of Sacramento, CA, ten grandchildren; Major Todd Essing, Timothy Sittig, Randy Sittig, Troy Essing, Brian Sittig, Bradley Sittig, Sarah Lowe, Becky Sittig, Jennifer Sittig, Jason Sittig and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Sittig was preceded in death by her parents, husband, twin infant daughters, one sister; Leona Balak and one brother; Leonard Balak.
