Fannie Jondle

Fannie Jondle, 105, lifelong resident of Webster County, passed away Monday, December 10, 2012 at Villa Care Center in Fort Dodge.

She was born May 5, 1907 in Otho, one block west of the church, to William and Martha Cahail. At the age of seven her folks moved to a farm southeast of Otho near the Otho Cemetery, where her father was killed by lightning one year later. After five years being a widow, her mother married James Hutcheson. At the age of 16, Fannie worked as a hired girl doing housework in Fort Dodge.

She married Ernest Jondle May 8, 1925. To this union, four children were born, Dorothy, Ruby, Leonard and Joyce. She worked at George's Grocery in Moorland, Uncle John's Grocery, Gamble's, Montgomery Wards and Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge. She took pride in her many flowers. She helped her husband farm until his death January 22, 1970. Her brother, Howard, lived with them for 22 years until his death November 21, 1969. Left to mourn her death are a daughter, Ruby Hasty of Otho; son Leonard (Josephine) Jondle of Promise City; 15 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, 31 great-great-grandchildren and six great-great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents; step father; 2 half sisters, Virginia and Genevieve; 1 half brother, Robert Hutcheson; 3 brothers, Raymond, Clifford and Howard Cahail; 2 daughters, Dorothy Thissen and Joyce Flickinger; 2 sons-in-law, William Thissen and Warren Hasty; 4 grandsons, Billy Thissen, Garry Flickinger and 2 Thissen infants;1 infant great-grandson and 2 great-great grandchildren. Fannie was a lifetime member of the Otho Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, December 14, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge with Dennis Shepherd, pastor of the Otho Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Elkhorn Township Cemetery.
