Fern McVay

Fern McVay, 101, of Fort Dodge, died Saturday, March 1, 2008 at The Gardens at Friendship Haven.             Interment was held in the Oakland Cemetery, Fort Dodge, Iowa. Fern was born August 28, 1906 in Boone, Iowa the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.E. McVay.  Shortly after starting the first grade the family moved to Fort Dodge.  Fern graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in June of 1924.             Fern later began working as a secretary for the Farm Management Division of the Metropolitan Life Insurance Co.  She worked there until June of 1964 when the company relocated to Carroll, Iowa.  She went on to work as a secretary for Dwight G. Rider until his appointment as a judge.  Fern finished her working career at the Department of Social Services retiring in March of 1970.             Ms. McVay was preceded in death by her parents; Mr. and Mrs. D.E. McVay and a brother; Glen.
