Memorial services for Frances L. Bunting, age 100, of Fort Dodge will be Friday September 20th at 2:30 p.m. at Friendship Haven Celebration Center with the Rev. Anita Johnson officiating. Visitation will be from 2:00 until the time of service. A Remembrance gathering of friends and family will follow at the Lehigh Senior Center from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Burial of cremated remains will be in Elkader Cemetery, Elkader, Iowa. She died Monday, September 16, 2013, at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge.

Frances Lavon Bunting was born September 15, 1913 in West Gate, Iowa to Charles and Leona (Wright) Arthur. She attended Upper Iowa University. In 1932, Frances was united in marriage to Orville C. Bunting in Randalia. The family lived in several communities as Orville taught school in Aurora, Fredericksburg and Janesville. As her husband continued his educational career as superintendent, the family lived in Alpha, Lehigh, New Sharon, Waukon, Marengo and Mount Pleasant. After their retirement, the couple lived in their retirement home in Fairfield Bay, Arkansas for fifteen years before moving to Friendship Haven in 1987.

Frances was a musician and loved the piano. She taught piano lessons for many years. She enjoyed quilting, cooking and being a nurse. She did substitute teaching and was a kindergarten overseer for many years. Frances was very involved with the Republican Party and the P.E.O. She was active in the Methodist Church and their womans circles and clubs.

Frances is survived by her children; Judith (Roger) Smith of Lehigh, Jon (Gloria) Bunting of San Marcos, CA, and Bruce (Cathie-Sue) Bunting of Castro Valley, CA. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Orville, son Robert and sister Mavis Rowland.
