Franklin W. Stein, 80, of Duncombe, died Saturday September 18, 2004 at his home.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday September 21, 2004 at the Salvation Army Church, Fort Dodge, IA. Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of arrangements.

Franklin was born February 27, 1924 the son of Frank and Isabelle Stein in Webster City, IA.

Franklin enlisted in the United States Army in 1941 serving his country in the Philippians until his honorable discharge in 1945.

On August 5, 1967 Franklin was united in marriage to Gladys Payment in Eagle Grove. The couple resided there until 1974 when they decided to move to Duncombe.

Franklin was a very family oriented man who loved life and all it had to offer. He enjoyed working in the outdoors tending to his yard or helping others. He loved watching professional wrestling and the soaps on television. Franklin would never turn down a good joke, hamburgers and French fries.

Franklin’s memories will be cherished by his 10 children, Frank (Liz) Hurt of Green Forest, Ak, Ed (Edna) Hurt of Gentry, Ak, Mary Lou Holt of Jonesboro, Ak, Linda (Ed) Caruth of Kamrar, IA, Vicky Ely of Moorland, IA, Debi Fallis of Boone, IA, Terri (Phil) Hoefer of Humboldt, Bill (Cindy) Hurt of Az, Jerry (Shelly) Stein of Imperial, MN, Mike Stein of Austria, Gerald Stein of Knoxville, IA, Dean Stein of Knoxville, IA, Linda Wiggens of TN; 31 grandchildren, 41 great grandchildren and 13 great-great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Stein was preceded in death by his parents, 2 children, Jeanne Mayo, Richard Hurt; 2 sisters, Barb and Frances.
