Badger

Gary L. Axness, 83, of Badger, IA, died Monday, March 6, 2023, at his home.  Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at the Badger Lutheran Church, 127 2nd Avenue SE - Badger.  A gathering of family and friends will be held from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family.  Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.

Gary was born February 24, 1940, in Fort Dodge, the son of Raymond and Pearl (Bradley) Axness.  He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1958, and then joined the Army National Guard.  On July 8, 1959, Gary was united in marriage to Nancy Anderson at the First Methodist Church in Fort Dodge.  Gary owned and operated Ranger Trucking Service for many years.  He was prideful of being a truck driver and had yet to retire from it. He also enjoyed collecting antique tractors.  Gary was a great neighbor and friend to many, helping with lawn care and snow removal.

Gary is survived by his wife of 63 years:  Nancy Axness of Badger; 2 children:  Steven Axness and significant other, Kathy Jo Peterson of Fort Dodge, and Jodi Davis and husband Gary Nelson of Thor, IA; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and 2 siblings: Terry Axness and wife Bev of Badger and Rose Adams and husband Larry of Fort Dodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, and great granddaughter.
