Gene Tussing, 90, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Tuesday, November 14, 2023, at his home. Graveside services will be held in Laurens, IA at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.
John Eugene was born February 27, 1933, in Laurens, the son of Everett and Mary (Weinzetl) Tussing. He attended Laurens High School. In 1951, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict until his honorable discharge in 1955. On May 28, 1956, he was united in marriage to Margaret Gale Potter at Sacred Heart Church in Laurens. Over the years, he farmed (10 years) and worked for the City of Laurens (28+ years) until his retirement in 1994. Gene enjoyed fishing, gardening, working outside and tinkering in the shop. He was a member of the Catholic Church.
Gene is survived by his wife of 67 years: Gale Tussing of Fort Dodge; 3 children: Joan Dennis and husband Chris of Manson, IA, John Tussing and wife Darcy of Fremont, MI, and Patrick Tussing of Webster City, IA; 4 grandchildren: Bobbi Thacker, Alex Hardy, Maxwell Tussing and Chelsea Wade; 7 great grandchildren: Kennedy, Cooper, Idella, Madden, Halston, Hadley and Makayla; and a sister: Veronica Rouse. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son: Bob Tussing; and sister: Geneva Clark.
