Gerald L. Heslop, 72, of Otho, IA, died Sunday, April 18, 2021, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Private family graveside services will be held at Hartman Cemetery in Lehigh, IA. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Gerald was born October 9, 1948, in Fort Dodge, the son of William G. and Pauline P. (McBride) Heslop. He graduated from Webster City High School in 1966. Following graduation, Gerald enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Vietnam War era until his honorable discharge in 1968. Gerald was united in marriage to Vicki Malaise on July 30, 1971, in Blairsburg, IA. He worked at Georgia Pacific for 30+ years. Gerald enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 49 years: Vicki Heslop of Otho; 2 sons: Chris Heslop and wife Jodi of Callender, IA and Ryan Heslop of Fort Dodge; 6 grandchildren: Tyler, Chance, Payton, Paige, Bailey and Jacob; 1 great grandchild: Carter; and 2 sisters: Sandy Smith and husband Ronald of Harcourt, IA and Jackie Coyler of Stockton, CA. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers: Bill Heslop, Charlie Heslop and Mike Heslop; and brother-in-law: Dick Coyler.
