Gladys Elizabeth Harden

Gladys Elizabeth Harden, 91, of Otho, entered her heavenly eternal home Saturday, October 18, 2008.  Pastor Dennis Shepherd of the United Methodist Church of Otho will officiate a celebration of her life at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 24, 2008 at Bruce-Graham Funeral Home.  Interment will follow in the Otho Cemetery.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.              Gladys was born on May 3, 1917, to Francis and Elizabeth (Rudd) Richmond.  She graduated from Boone High School in 1935 where she excelled as a softball pitcher and a debate team member.  On June 3, 1935, she married William Maurice Harden in Mankato, Minnesota.             Gladys was a member of the United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and a local birthday club.  Gladys enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, hosting family dinners, square dancing, crocheting, playing cards and sharing baked goods with neighbors.              Gladys is survived by her husband of 73 years, William, two daughters; Joan Harden of Phoenix, Arizona, and Linda (Dennis) Heidick of Pharr, Texas.  She was blessed with two grandchildren; Luann Heidick of Phoenix, Arizona and Matthew (Sandi) Heidick of Ankeny, Iowa, four great grandchildren; Jacob, Madison, Elias and Jocelyn Heidick of Ankeny, Iowa, one brother; Wayne (Doloris) Richmond; one sister-in-law; Hilma Hasstedt, both of Boone, Iowa.  Gladys is also survived by many nieces and nephews.             Mrs. Harden was preceded in death by her parents, one son; Maurice, one sister; Inez Hopkins and three brothers; Delbert, Ralph and Keith Richmond.             Gladys will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by her family and friends.
