Gregory Thomas “Brownie” Brown, 68, of Fort Dodge, IA, died unexpectedly from health complications on Friday, October 10, 2025, at his home. A private family inurnment at Corpus Christi Cemetery will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.
Gregory was born June 16, 1957, in Fort Dodge, the son of Walter F. and Noreen M. (Deluhery) Brown. He graduated from St Edmond High School in 1975. Over the years, he worked for the Iowa State Liquor Control Commission and North Central Iowa Correctional Facility until his retirement. He also tended Bar at various popular establishments in his spare time. Brownie enjoyed hunting and fishing. His annual trips to Leech Lake and Canada fishing with friends and family ranked very high on his list. He was an avid University of Iowa fan. One of his favorite things was to go out early on Saturday mornings and shoot a limit of pheasants and still be home in time to watch his beloved Hawkeyes football. Greg was a pleasant fellow and loved to visit and chew the fat with anyone he met. He was especially proud of his nieces and nephews. Greg was a very handy fellow. Always ready to help his friends with various projects was another one of his passions.
He is survived by 2 siblings: Matt Brown and wife Cindy of Fort Dodge and John "Jack" Brown and wife Roxanne of Round Rock Texas, and his wonderful companion of 20 yrs, Pam McBride of Fort Dodge. He had 6 nieces and 1 nephew.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter F & Noreen M Brown. His brothers, Kevin F Brown and Mark E Brown, his nephew Austin W Brown.
