John Alan Crosby

John A. Crosby, 54, died Monday, December 22, 2003, at the Hampton Health Care Center, Hampton, IA.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 26, 2003, at Bruce’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Officiating will be the Rev. Don Wahlgren. Burial will be held in Newark Township Cemetery, Vincent, IA. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. to service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

John was born on September 17, 1949, the son of Ralph H. and Lucille H. (Olson) Crosby. In 1959 he became a resident of Woodward State Hospital and School in Woodward, IA. In 1971 he became a resident of Webster County Care Facility. John then moved to Northwoods Living in Fort Dodge in December of 1990. In January of 2001 he became a resident of the Hampton Health Care Center. When he was younger, he enjoyed attending concerts by the Karl L. King Municipal Band. Karl King always made time to say hello. John always looked forward to receiving his weekly post card from his sister. John participated in Special Olympics and won several medals. During the summers he would look forward to attending Camp Sunnyside.

John’s gentle and affectionate nature was known to all and will be greatly missed by his sister, Susan (Jerry) Ashenfelter of Le Mars and 2 nieces, Amy (Alan) Mulligan of Le Mars and Emily Ashenfelter of Iowa City.

John is preceded in death by his parents.
