John J. VanLangen

John J. VanLangen, 80, of Blairsburg, died Tuesday January 4, 2005 at the Knapp Medical Center, Weslaco, TX.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at the First Presbyterian Church, Kamrar, with the Rev. John K. Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the church.

John VanLangen was born September 3, 1924 the son of John and Etta (Brinkema) VanLangen in Webster City, IA. He graduated from Kamrar High School in the Class of 1942.

John served his country in the United States Army in World War II. Following his service duty John returned to work for the ASC for several years and farmed north of Kamrar.

On July 24, 1959 John was united in marriage to Freda Middents. The couple farmed southeast of Blairsburg until John’s retirement.

He was a 55 year member of the Webster City American Legion Post 191 and also belonged to the Jewell Golf and Country Club. John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he served as a deacon.

Those thankful for having shared in John’s life include his wife Freda, two sons; James (Amy) VanLangen, and Brian (Jennifer) VanLangen, three grandchildren; Amanda, Brandon, and Bryce VanLangen, one sister; Evelyn (Ardell) Nissen, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. VanLangen was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers; Ernest and Orman VanLangen, and two sisters; Elizabeth Schrock, and Lenora Carson.
