Judith A. LaBaume

Judith A. LaBaume, 76, of Fort Dodge, IA, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2019, at Mercy One Hospital in Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, April 25, 2019, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South, with Pastor Alaire Willits of Epworth United Methodist Church officiating. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM on Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Historic Bruce Funeral Home. Interment will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Judith was born April 9, 1943, in Fort Dodge, the daughter of Joseph and Doris “Peggy” (Skoland) Suhajda. She graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1961. She married Jerry LaBaume and they were later divorced. Judy was then with the love of her life, James Purkapile for 37 years. Judy worked at Globe Union from 1961 until the company closed. She then worked for Dr. Holm for 20 years. Judy enjoyed spending time with her family. She also enjoyed taking care of her cats, dogs and horses. She had a great love for animals. Judy will be greatly missed.

Judy is survived by her long time companion: Jim Purkapile of Fort Dodge; son: Jerry LaBaume of Fort Dodge; sister: Vickie Steburg and husband Don of Fort Dodge; son: Jamie Purkapile of Colorado Springs, CO; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; nieces: Jody Canavan and husband Pat and Julie Hiracheta and husband Ernie. She is also survived by her great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
