June Annette Logue

June Annette Logue, 83, of Burnside died Tuesday, August 1, 2012 at her home.

Per June's wishes, no formal service will be held. Instead, an informal gathering of family and friends will be held from 11am until 2pm on Saturday August 18th at the Dayton Community Center in Dayton, IA, to share memories and celebrate June's life.

June was born June 3, 1929 the daughter of Walter and Fayta (Harris) Johnson in the same room of the same home as President Harry S. Truman, in Lamar, MO. She and her identical twin sister Joy later graduated as co-valedictorians of the Great Bend, KS high school class of 1947. June married Merle Edward Logue on May 16, 1948 in Great Bend, KS. Merle died on October 12, 1996.

Junes priorities centered on her family. Her passions included reading, writing, playing dominoes, watching and cheering for the Hawkeyes and the Atlanta Braves. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Burnside.

 

Over the years June has worked at the Fort Dodge Messenger, then the Joint County School System which became the AEA, where she was an executive secretary. Most recently after retirement from the AEA, she was the Messenger correspondent from Burnside for the Senior Section. During the '60s and '70s Merle and June managed Skylar Kennels, where she groomed dogs.

Those thankful for having shared in Junes life include her children, Jennie (Jerry) Ackerman of Gainesville, Florida, Thomas (Jerilyn) Logue of Ames, Iowa, twin sister, Joy (Gene) Mills, two grandchildren, Christopher (Denyse) Logue, Neil (Michelle) Logue, two great grandchildren, Kenneth Logue, Mya June Logue and a sister in law, Kelva.

Mrs. Logue was preceded in death by her parents; husband Merle and son Billy Logue.
