Mae M. Heck

Mae M. Heck, 86, of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, September 1, 2011 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mae was born December 1, 1924 the daughter of William A. and Florence (Dow) Pierce in Carroll, Iowa. Mae was a 1944 graduate of the Fort Dodge Senior High School. Mae was a faithful employee of Hormel for 34 years. For 31 of those years she was a member of the Local P31.

Mae loved music, especially when she was singing with the Sweet Adelines. She enjoyed her many travels. Her dedication and support of her family was very important to her. Mae was a member of the Riverside United Methodist Church.

Those thankful for having shared in Maes life include her daughter, Syl (Denny) Messerly, grandchildren, Denise (Adam) Vallandingham, Matt Messerly, Brad (Jolene) Messerly, three great grandchildren, Keegan Porter, Kira Messerly, Brady Messerly, one great-great granddaughter, Macie Porter, and a sister, Vi Shadbolt and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Heck was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Everett, William and Charles Pierce, sisters, Helen Hill, Betty Hood and Alice Dobrow.
