Margaret Mary Callahan

Margaret Mary Callahan 91 of Des Moines, formerly of Lehigh died May 3, 2013 at University Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Des Moines. Graveside Services will be held Saturday, August 10th at 1:30 at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Duncombe.

Margaret Mary Callahan was born October 25, 1921 in Eagle Grove, Iowa to John and Ella Reynolds Callahan. She graduated from Lehigh High School, Mercy Hospital School of Nursing and San Diego State University. Marg served in the United States Navy Nurse Corp during World War II and retired from the Navy in 1971.

She lived in San Diego for over 40 years. In 2011 she moved to Des Moines and has lived there since. Marg loved to travel. She visited countries all over the world, some of them include, Egypt, Russia, Siberia, Antarctica, Australia and most of Europe.

She is survived by her nephew Emanuel (Candace) Kraska Jr. of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, brother-in-law Emanuel Kraska Sr. of Pocahontas, and cousin Evelyn Green of Wapella, Illinois.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, John and Maurice, and two sisters Geraldine and Catherine. Fort Dodge Area Funeral and Cremation Service, Bruce Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
