Services for Marilyn Jean Helgeson 88, of Fort Dodge will be Monday, April 22, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be Sunday 6-8 p.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday, one hour prior to services. Burial will be in North Lawn Cemetery. She died Tues. April 16, 2013 at the Fort Dodge Villa Care Center.

Marilyn was born July 28, 1924, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Arthur and Gladys (Oswald) Craft. She grew up in Cedar Rapids and attended school there. She was united in marriage to Earl Cassidy and to this union two children were born, Steven and Linda. On July 1, 1959 Marilyn was united in marriage to Robert Helgeson in Morrison, Illinois. To this union two sons were born, Bobby and David. The family moved to Fort Dodge where she has lived since. Marilyn worked as head baker at Arey Schools for 16 years and was Foster grandparent for Feelhaver School working with kindergarteners for 10 years. She enjoyed baking, music, going to theater and playing cards, especially 500. Her trips to Minnesota and spending time at the lake were very important to her.

She is survived by her children; Linda (Stanley) Althoff of Princeton, MN, , Bobby Helgeson of Fort Dodge David Helgeson and (partner Jim Mancinelli) of West Deptford, NJ, and daughter-in-law Janet Cassidy of Mechanicsburg, PA. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Robert; son, Steven; brother John Craft, and sister Helen Hunter.
