Michael "Mike" F. Godfrey

Michael “Mike” F. Godfrey, 78, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Thursday, July 23, 2026, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge.

Michael was born April 22, 1948, in Fort Dodge, the son of Arlo F. and Luella M. (Graham) Godfrey. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1966, and continued his education at Iowa Central Community College. On March 26, 1971, he was united in marriage to Carolyn M. VanSickle in Fort Dodge. Mike was the “pizza man” for 30+ years. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge. Mike enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing, playing cards and woodworking. He also enjoyed cheering on the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees. Above all, he loved racing. His life was planned around NASCAR races… he just couldn’t miss a race! If something needed fixed, call Papa – a.k.a. “Mr. Fix-It”. Mike will be deeply missed.

Michael is survived by his wife of 55 years: Carolyn Godfrey of Fort Dodge; his daughter: Becky Grazier of Fort Dodge; 2 grandchildren: Bradley Michael (Grace) Grazier of Fort Dodge and Bethany Grazier of Kingman, AZ; 2 great grandchildren: Remi Donovan and T.J. Grazier; and 3 siblings: Donald (Suzie) Godfrey of Gowrie, IA, Cindy Pierce of Callender, IA and Carol Barker of Kingman, AZ. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandson: Travis Grazier; and 2 brothers-in-law: Rick Barker and Dale Pierce.
