Michael "Mike" D. Petersen

Michael (Mike/Mikey P.) David Petersen, 54, of Fort Dodge, passed away at his home Tuesday, March 03, 2026. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 12, 2026, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South, with Pastor Emily Sauer-Alvarez of St. Olaf Lutheran Church officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held one hour prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at North Lawn Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the family. Arrangements are with Historic Bruce Funeral Home of Fort Dodge. 

He was born February 07, 1972 in Fort Dodge, Iowa the son of Roger Dean and Joanne Ellen (Lutroe) Petersen. He attended Prairie Community School of Gowrie, and Fort Dodge Senior High.

Mike enjoyed fishing and fixing things, but above all enjoyed spending time with his son, Nate, and his dogs Patches, Precious, Karma, & Zoey. He was goofey, funny, & always had a joke, or story to tell. He was a friend to many, & was always there to lend a helping hand when needed.

Mike is survived by his son, Nathanael (Nate) Nelson (Taylor Hagen) of Fort Dodge, his father, Roger Petersen of Fort Dodge, a brother, Allan Petersen of Fort Dodge, & a sister, Pam Newkirk (Keith Peterson) of Fort Dodge, an uncle, Dennis Petersen of Fort dodge, 3 nephews, 2 nieces, his dog Patches, & many great nieces & nephews.

He was proceeded in death by his mother, Joanne, and sister-in- law, Becky Petersen.

He was loved, and will be deeply missed by many.
