Milda Katherine Ekdahl

Milda Katherine Ekdahl, 96, of Fort Dodge died Tuesday, October 25, 2005 at the Marian Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 28, 2005 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home. An Eastern Star service will be held preceding the service at 10:45 a.m. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be at North Lawn Cemetery.

Milda was born on May 19, 1909 in Dubuque the daughter of Dietrick and Helen (Tonne) Meier. She completed her schooling in Clarence, IA through the eighth grade. In April of 1933 she was united in marriage to Hilding Ekdahl. She and her late husband were long-time residents of Fort Dodge where his construction business was located until his death in 1971.

Milda was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church and was a 55 year member in both the Order of Eastern Star and in the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem. She represented the Masons as a Past Worthy Matron and the Shriners as a Past Worthy High Priestess.

She will be missed by her two daughters, Ruth Collins of Fort Dodge and Barbara Frey of Corpus Christi, Texas and her sister Leona Banks of Clarence, Iowa. She was also the proud grandmother of six and great-grandmother of twelve.

Milda was preceded in death by her husband, Hilding Ekdahl; her parents, Helen and Detrick Meier; and her brother George Meier.
