Mildred L. Phillips, 99, passed away Friday, September 21, 2012 at the Tompkins Memorial Health Center.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 7 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2012 at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at a later date.

Mildred was born June 30, 1913 the daughter of Eilert J. and Martha (Johnson) Friesth in Humboldt County.  She graduated from Humboldt High School in 1931.  Following high school she was employed by North Western Bell Telephone as an operator.

On February 28, 1937 Mildred was united in marriage to Robert W. Phillips in Eagle Grove, Iowa.

She was a longtime member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church where she enjoyed her involvement in Circle and Alter Guild.  She also enjoyed quilting with the church ladies.

Mildred had a passion for sewing, crocheting and quilting.  She enjoyed fishing in a serene location and playing cards with friends.  The biggest happiness came with her grandchildren.

Mildred worked along side her husband at Iowa Parcel Service until their retirement.

Those thankful for having shared in Mildreds life include her daughters, Mary (Joe) Christianson, Marcia (Vonn) Vanderpool, four grandchildren, Randy (Becky), David (Marcia), Deanne (Greg), Carla (Bill), six great grandchildren, Ryan, Katie, Jack, Michelle, Kyle, Kevin, sister in law, Johnna Friesth and many nieces and nephews. 

Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by her husband, sister, Marie Frank, brothers, Melvin (Kathleen) Friesth, Elliott Friesth and one son in law, Dwight Stevens.
