Mildred Millie Anderson

Mildred Millie Anderson, 87, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, died Wednesday, August 17, 2011, at Careage of Fort Dodge.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at the First Evangelical Free Church with Pastors Al Lewis and Scott Hatton officiating. Interment will follow in the Albert City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Millie was born January 26, 1924 the daughter of John Paul and Nellie (Erickson) Anderson on the family farm near Albert City, Iowa. She was raised in the home of her grandparents near there. She spoke often of her deep respect and love for her father, Paul. She loved music and basketball in high school and graduated from Albert City. She spent two years at the Evangelical Free Church Bible School in Chicago before completing her nurses training at Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis. From there she worked in a missions hospital in Kentucky, spent a year with Gods Invasion Army, worked a few years as an office nurse for Doctor Bruce in Ft. Dodge and then settled into what is now Trinity Regional Hospital. She worked a few years there as a scrub nurse and finished her career with 27 years as the surgery supervisor.

Millie started her walk with God as a 10-year-old by putting her trust in the death of Jesus in her place and in His resurrection to give her eternal life. She faithfully loved and served God for her lifetime. Her ministry loves in life were discipling young people, sharing her testimony as a public speaker, baking, using her home for hosting overnight guests, cooking fabulous meals for friends, directing choir, playing the organ, and just loving on people. She fulfilled a lifelong dream of producing her own cookbook at age 81, entitled A Burst of Joy.

Millie was loved by 100s of friends across the country and seemed to have friends in every state! Those thankful for having shared in Millies life include her nieces and nephews, Roger and Rosie, Lanny and Cathleen, Kevin and Lori, Debby and Randy, Carolyn and Dennis, Byron and Pamela, Kathy and Steve, Darwin and Darlis, Shurmaine and Bill, Sandy and Walt, Dan and Rene, 26 great nieces and nephews and 13 great-great nieces and nephews.

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Pauline Johnson, three brothers, Emery, Wesley and Junior, and her nephew Lanny Anderson.
