Minna Louise Looft

Minna Louise Looft was born July 11, 1900. Minnie passed away at the age of 108 years old at the South Care Center in Humboldt, IA on November 8, 2008.  Her parents were Peter and Louisa Looft of Bancroft, IA. Her parents, four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.  Minnies siblings were Nickolas Looft, Emma Rassmussen, Amanda Looft, Peter Looft, Frank Looft, Anna Reimers, Harry Looft, and Ruth Munson.                        Minnie graduated from the Bancroft Public High School and went on to attend the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls for two years before transferring to and graduating from Drake University in Des Moines, IA where she received a Bachelor of Science degree. Minnie began her teaching career in the rural schools of north Kossuth County.  She then taught in Swea City Public Schools for two years. Minnie then moved to Fort Dodge, IA and began a long career teaching in the Fort Dodge Public Schools. Minnie retired from teaching in 1969.             Minnie was an active member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Fort Dodge where she taught in the primary department of the Sunday School. She was a member of the Dorcus Mission Society, the Women of the Church, and the Senior Group.             Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Zion Lutheran Church in Humboldt, IA.  Visitation will be held one hour before the service. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Bancroft, IA.
