To relatives and friends: a message to all of you, don’t feel bad. I had a great interesting life.
I was born in Pocahontas, IA to Oscar and Bertha Nelson, brother Dale and sister Karen made up our family. We grew up on farms in Webster County. Our parents taught us to do many things, to be proud of our accomplishments and to help others if they needed help.
I attended community schools and graduated from Otho High in 1955.
I married David Stewart and we spent most of our married life in Pleasant Valley Township raising Kenny, Brenda and Susan. We have three grandchildren: BobbiAnn, Tabitha and Derrick.
I feel I have been blessed with a variety of interesting experiences. I worked for the U.S. Government, the State of Iowa and Webster County. Also, many part-time and full-time positions and many volunteer hours. Working for Rep. Mike Cormack at our beautiful Iowa State Capital is at the top of the list. Years of volunteering at the Webster County Historical Society and the Webster County Museum allowed me to get to know Webster County’s interesting history. Bringing attention to the proposed destruction of the Dolliver Park pond and seeing it was great.
Supporting David with his favorite hobby - guns, allowed me to meet a variety of friends at the Rifle and Pistol Clubs yearly gun show. I also supported my children’s activities. My hobbies of gardening, spending time with relatives and friends was always another good memory.
I want to give a very special THANK YOU to my son Kenny for all the help in allowing me to stay in my home these last 2 years.
I have spent my time making embroidered cards, tatting snowflakes, crocheting and putting puzzles together and doing whatever I wanted to do.
I’ve listed only the highlights of the most interesting life with lots of great memories. I’m hoping that everyone will visit and support the Webster County Museum that has lots of history on how the Webster County people lived.
Thank you relatives and friends for being part of a great life, full of great memories.
