Rachel (Strong) Peterson

Rachel (Strong) Peterson, 45, of Barnum, IA, died Friday, August 14, 2020, at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home in Fort Dodge. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM on Tuesday, August 18, 2020, at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home, 923 1st Avenue South. Graveside services will follow at the Union Cemetery in Humboldt, IA. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, social distancing must be followed by attendees. Face masks are optional. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Rachel was born January 16, 1975, in Fort Dodge, the daughter of John Fred and JoAnne (Butrick) Strong. In 1993, she graduated from Prairie Valley High School in Gowrie. On March 17, 1995, Rachel married Scott Peterson in Fort Dodge, and to this union a daughter was born. The couple later divorced. Rachel enjoyed spending time with her granddaughter, playing with her cat “Cuddles”, taking pictures, watching movies and shopping. She also enjoyed dining and working at Taco Tico.

Rachel is survived by her daughter: Brandi Peterson of Bradgate; granddaughter: Bayleiy Lara; and 3 sisters: Roxanne Hurtt of Fort Dodge, Trisha Buffington of Fort Dodge, and Dawn (Don) Riley of Badger. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother: Rickey Strong; sister: Michelle Fredericksen; and brother-in-law: Elton Hurtt.

The family would like to thank the hospice staff for the wonderful care Rachel received. You are all angels.
