Richard Bruce Sells

Funeral Services for Richard “Bruce” Sells 71 of Fort Dodge will be Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Historic Bruce Funeral Home in Fort Dodge, Iowa with Gary Witte officiating. Visitation at Bruce Funeral Home will be Wednesday 5 – 7 and continue on Thursday one hour prior to services. Spring burial will be in the Gowrie Cemetery. He died January 9, 2016 at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.

Richard Bruce Sells was born March 16, 1944 to Wilferd and Mary Viola (Currier) Sells in Fort Dodge, Iowa. He grew up in Fort Dodge and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1963. He then attended Sunset School of Preaching graduating in 1976. Bruce preached around Fort Dodge but mainly served in the Westside Church of Christ. He will always be remembered for his quick wit and his vast knowledge on any subject. His family was very important to him. Bruce was a member of Westside Church of Christ and enjoyed bowling. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Hawkeyes, the Chicago Bears and Cubs.

He is survived by his siblings; Una Lee Johnson of Urbana, IL, Don Sells Sr. of Fort Dodge, and Randy Sells of Fort Dodge. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews including nephew Richard Scott Sells who he helped raise.

Bruce is preceded in death by his parents Wilferd and Viola Sells, two sisters; Juanita Kriebel and Alice Ryan and two brothers; Robert Sells Sr. and Mike Sells Sr.
