Richard (Dick) Prather, 82, died at his home on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Richard (Dick) was born October 29, 1931 in Ruthven, Iowa to Harold and Ruth (Johnson) Prather.

Dick grew up in Graettinger where he attended Graettinger Schools. He served in the United States Army for a number years. Dick was united in marriage to DeEtta Meng. They had two sons, Lonnie and Kevin, and a daughter Brenda. The family lived in Graettinger Iowa, Emmetsburg, Iowa, and Minnesota. Dick returned to Graettinger in 1994 where he remained. He enjoyed trading horses, fixing horse drawn equipment, going to auctions and taking care of his dog, Dink. He especially enjoyed playing cards and shooting the breeze with his coffee buddies. He is survived by his children; Lonnie Prather of Rock Springs, Wyoming, Kevin (Casey) Prather of LaBarge, Wyoming and Brenda Hanninen of Helena, Montana, his grandchildren, Keenan, Tyler, Jimmie Ricky, John and Nikki. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Carl Wicks of Graettinger as well as several loving, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Dick was proceeded in death by his parents, Harold and Ruth, brothers, Robert, John Jimmy and sister, Carol Wicks. A gathering will be held at the Lutheran Church located in Graettinger, Iowa on Friday February 7, 2014 beginning at 2:00 PM. All that knew Dick are welcome to come and pay their respects and say their good byes. Refreshments and horderves will be served.
