Robert “Bob” L. Howard, 67, of Fort Dodge, died Monday January 5, 2004, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, January 9, 2004, at Bruce’s Funeral Home and Cremation Center. Officiating will be the Father Albert O. Grendler of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Spirit Lake, IA. Interment will follow in the North Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 until 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Those planning an expression of sympathy may direct memorial to the Robert Howard Memorial Fund.

Robert was born May 7, 1936, the son of Sonny and Ethel (Nead) Howard in Fort Dodge, IA. He graduated from the Fort Dodge Senior High School with the Class of 1954. Following graduation Robert went on to further his education at the University of Iowa.

Robert owned and operated Rustlers Rendezvous until it was destroyed by the tornado. He then went to operating the Stag Restaurant and Lounge until its closing in 1995. Following the closing of the Stag he went to work at Diamond Dave’s and was currently working at the Eagle’s.

Robert was a very dedicated Hawkeye enthusiast. He was always helping take care of others and never worried about himself. Robert was a very private individual who enjoyed his quiet time. Robert was a former member of the Fort Dodge Bowling Association and the Elk’s Lodge.

Robert L. Howard is survived by his beloved friend Bonnie Kay Barnett, two daughters, Shannon (Mike) Martin of Fort Dodge, Tabitha (Christopher) Blum of Fort Dodge, four grandchildren, Shawna, twins, Nathan and Nicholas, and Cheynne.

Mr. Howard was preceded in death by his parents, Sonny and Ethel Howard.
