Rocky Pepples 69 of Fort Dodge died Sunday, February 18, 2018 at his home in Fort Dodge. Memorial Services will be Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Riverside Methodist Church in Fort Dodge with Rev Jim Barnett officiating.
Lewis Alfred “Rocky” Pepples was born February 25, 1949 in Fort Dodge, Iowa to Lewis and Opal (Cummins) Pepples. He graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High and then served in the United States Air Force for twelve years. Rocky served in England, Greece, Iceland, Florida and Montana during his career in the Air Force. After his service, he graduated from college in Montana with a degree in accounting and was an Enrolled Agent for many years. Rocky was united in marriage to Beth Bryson on May 23, 1985 in Shelby, Montana. The couple moved to Fort Dodge in 1995, where Rocky did accounting work for Tom Donney Motors and Jim's Carpet One.
Rocky's hobbies included deep sea fishing, he loved umpiring softball and refereeing volleyball and football. He competed in many bowling tournaments, even bowling a perfect 300 game. He played Santa Claus for many years at the Woman's Domestic Abuse Center. Rocky loved music, singing in barbershop quartets and he even had his own group along with Jack Yates called the DuoTones. Rocky will always be remembered for his wicked sense of humor and his great imitations.
He is survived by his wife Beth of Fort Dodge, his three children; Lewis Alan (Robin) Pepples of Culpeper, Virginia, Joe (Michelle) Pepples of Redford, Michigan, and Peggy “Margaret” Garcia of Stanhope, IA, twelve grandchildren and his sister Janet Davis of Fort Dodge.
Rocky was preceded in death by his parents and sister Bonnie “LaVonne”.
