Ronald Alan Hamilton, 70, of Fort Dodge, IA, died Sunday, January 7, 2024, at UnityPoint Health – Trinity Regional Medical Center, with his loving family by his side.  Inurnment at Union Cemetery in Livermore, IA will be held at a later date.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Ronald was born August 23, 1953, in Algona, IA, the son of Lyle Dwayne and Geraldine (Palmer) Hamilton.  He attended Grade School and Jr. High in Algona and graduated from Twin Rivers High School in Bode, IA in 1971.  He was blessed to meet Wilma and Harley Fisher as foster parents at 14, living with them and finishing high school.  They were fundamental in shaping his character and strong work ethics. They were a huge part in his life and children’s life and loved deeply.

In 1976, he was united in marriage to Linda Olson at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Livermore, IA.  Early in the marriage Ron worked for the Coop Elevator in Livermore.  He later worked at Schwan’s for 25 years, retiring from Pro Coop Elevator in 2020 after being diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension.

Ron’s favorite things to do were spending time with his family, hunting, fishing, golf and bowling. He enjoyed NASCAR races and the Vikings. His true sports love was The Iowa Hawkeyes, whether it be men’s football or his Hawkey men and women basketball games. He recorded them all and would watch them kick butt on his bad days.

He was known for his optimistic and playful personality, quick smile and chuckle everybody recognized.

Ron is survived by his wife of 47 years:  Linda Hamilton; 5 daughters:  Cathy (Allan) Minkler of Rolfe, IA, Cynthia Hamilton of Dakota City, IA, Jennifer Madison of Cherokee, IA, Amanda Hernandez of Fort Dodge and Nicole (Sean) Rippey Waterloo, IA; 20 grandchildren: Bryce, Braxton, Kindra, Joe, Philip, Kaetlyn, Breyanne and Abigail, Veronica and Isaiah, Justine, Christian, DeAnna and Marissa, Olyvia, Emilliano, Aidan, Nicholas, Kaden and Emelia; sisters: Lorraine Krull and Gail Carroll; sisters-in-law: Susan Olson and Theresa Larson; brothers-in-law: Jody and Doug Olson and Jim Krull.

He was preceded in death by his parents: Lyle Dwayne and Geraldine Hamilton, his folks: Wilma and Harley Fisher; and 2 grandchildren: David and Alexsis Hamilton. He was also preceded in death by several grandparents, aunts and uncles.
